Falkor is looking for two Dutch volunteers under 30 years old for the EVS-project "Promoting (youth) environmental activities in Georgia".

Both volunteers will be active for 10 months, starting from 1 september 2007, within the Caucasus Environmental NGO Network (CENN).

You both will help creating and promoting the CENN public image and to strengthen the Youth Environmental Network. The general tasks of the EVS-volunteers will be to bring new “breath”, vision and innovative ideas into the organization how to promote CENN to the general public, and to enable members of the youth network to be more innovative by delivering them informal trainings and holding discussions and debates.



Specific tasks of volunteer 1 (PR):

After the on-arrival training and first introductions to the living and working environment, the volunteer will help to discuss internally within CENN, what are the ideas, aims of development CENN public image. The volunteer will work mainly with the CENN PR-coordinator, but he/she will have regular meetings with other colleagues of the organization. The volunteer will be involved in the development and implementation of a PR campaign of CENN. He/she will have many opportunities to use his/her creativity and experiences for the development of different challenging PR activities.

The volunteer will participate in the preparation and implementation of different public outreach activities like photo exhibitions, press conferences, parties and festivals.

To be more precise, the tasks of the volunteer will include but not be limited to the following:
-Assist CENN in arranging different public outreach events;
-Develop specific informal seminars for CENN members on public outreach activities and experience abroad
-Provide editorial assistance (like for the 'Weekly Digest' online news section)
-Work on new directions of CENN development




Specific tasks of volunteer 2 (youth network):

After the on-arrival training and first introductions to the living and working environment, the volunteer will help to discuss internally within CENN, what are the ideas, aims and hopes for the youth network. The volunteer will work with her colleagues as well as the local volunteers engaged in developing of
project ideas. He/she will have regular meetings with youth organizations and make a database of potential partners. He/she will actively work with the youth network participants (brainstorming, establishment of student fields of interest, gathering of their ideas, training volunteers that will take part as co-leaders in the youth activities etc.).
Also will the volunteer be involved in the implementation of a PR campaign of the project. He/she will have many opportunities to use his/her creativity and experiences for the development of the Youth Environmental Network.

The volunteer will participate in the preparation and implementation of youth environmental activities like youth seminars, photo exhibitions, workshops and festivals, and in the development of the cooperation with young environmental activists in similar organizations abroad (state, private and non-governmental environmental organizations and mass-media.)

The volunteer will have regular meetings with environmental activists in different regions of Georgia and in the region of Caucasus. He/she will conduct trainings with youth.

To be more precise, the tasks of the volunteer will include but not be limited to the following:
-Assist the Youth Network Coordinator in arranging different environmental campaigns;
-Develop specific training courses, seminars for network members on environmental campaigning and youth environmental activities abroad;
-Participate in monthly environmental round-tables/meetings for youth – “Green Cafe”;
-Participate in arrangement of photo exhibitions and excursions for students;
-Obtain information about Youth Environmental Organizations abroad and establish contacts with them;
-Prepare weekly digests about youth movement activities
-Provide editorial assistance
-Work on new directions of the Youth Network



Practical information:

Falkor is sending in total 7 EVS (European Voluntary Service) volunteers to Georgia and Armenia in 2007. All volunteers will remain in contact with each other through the EVS network and join trainings (like the on-arrival training ) and meetings together.
International travel costs, visa, insurance, accommodation, food and local transport costs will be covered. Also task-related and personal support (a mentor) and language lessons will be provided.
The volunteer's allowance (pocket money) for this project is 80 Euro per month.
The project is financed with support of the YOUTH programme of the European Commission.
